After we returned from our Western trip we had a week of settling back in. I got some rounds of golf in. Friends Judy and Pres came into the area and we golfed a couple of courses as well as spending some time at their campsite! It was fun to be back at High Cliff State Park. By the end of the week we were on the road again, heading to Michigan to be in Sterling Heights for MJ’s birthday and the 4th of July. We had a great time as usual, with grill outs and visits to both new and favorite restaurants. We headed back to the Michigan Upper Peninsula at the end of the week, and then south to Oshkosh. We had one week to do some catch up at home, see our eye doctor for our yearly checkups, and start packing to leave. It was time for our yearly trip to Door County Wisconsin. Door County is on the peninsula north of Green Bay. With Green Bay on one side and Lake Michigan on the other there are scenic views everywhere. On the upper part of the peninsula they have carefully tried to promote local business and keep the ‘big boys’ out. We have many favorites from close to 50 years of visits. Our 2 weeks went quickly and we did not visit all of our favorites. But enough to eat and drink much more than we should in that amount of time! MJ was with us and our niece Denise and her husband Jason. We celebrated Jason being done with chemo and declared cancer free. I managed to get in some rounds of golf at my favorite course plus some extra rounds at other places. It was a great time and good to have Jeff and Donna with us for a week and John and Debbie spent a couple of days in Door. We were home for the start of August and tried to take advantage of the time to catch up with our Oshkosh friends. We do have friends here that we take much enjoyment spending time with. We thank them for spending time with us. Life is fun, and we are blessed to enjoy it. This last weekend we were in Milwaukee for Irish Fest, another long term celebration we take part in. Constant music on 16 stages, there is always something new to find. We had chances to spend time with many old friends. It was supposed to be cloudy with good chances of rain according to the weatherman, but we spent many hours in the sun. Of course I told Chris we would not need any sunscreen this weekend! Jeff and Donna joined us for the full weekend and we stayed at the same hotel downtown. It did rain on Friday night but it was not a problem since there are so many great places to eat and drink in downtown Milwaukee. And we did. After a great breakfast this morning we are now home. My homebrew club has their annual picnic Wednesday, then on Thursday we are off to the north. Another annual rite of summer is our trip to Canada. We are looking forward to seeing Homer and Judy and Ron and Verna this next week. We are also thinking of our friends in the NorthEast. Ernesto missed Florida but is wreaking havoc there. We hope you are all doing well and enjoying your summer.
